Knicks Extend Series Lead
After a comeback victory in the series opener, the Knicks faced the Pacers again today at home. Despite trailing by double digits at halftime, a stellar performance by the injured Jalen Brunson, who scored 24 of his total 29 points in the second half, propelled the Knicks to a 130-121 victory, giving them a 2-0 series lead.
Repeat of Dramatic Comeback
In the first game of the Eastern Conference playoffs, Brunson’s 43-point explosion led to a comeback win. Today, in Game 2, a similar scenario unfolded as the Knicks erased a halftime deficit. Tyrese Haliburton of the Pacers led with 13 first-quarter points, but OG Anunoby of the Knicks matched with 12 points, resulting in a tied score of 36-36 after the first quarter.
Brunson’s Heroics
Limited to only 8 minutes in the first half due to injury, Brunson stepped up in the second half, scoring 10 points in the third quarter alone. His crucial baskets, including 5 points in the final minute of the quarter, helped the Knicks secure an 8-point lead despite Anunoby’s early exit due to injury.
Dominating Fourth Quarter
Brunson continued his hot shooting in the fourth quarter, hitting timely shots to maintain the Knicks’ lead. Alongside Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo, he ensured the Knicks stayed ahead, even extending their lead to 7 points with 3 and a half minutes remaining.
Knicks’ Balanced Scoring
Three of the Knicks’ starters scored over 28 points, with Brunson leading the pack with 29 points, 24 of which came in the second half. Anunoby, who exited early due to injury, and DiVincenzo, who made 6 three-pointers, both contributed 28 points. Hart added 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 7 assists. Meanwhile, Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers with 34 points and 9 assists.
Looking Ahead
With a commanding 2-0 series lead, the Knicks will now travel to face the Pacers in their home arena. Despite their strong start, they remain focused on maintaining their momentum and securing a series sweep. (Free100)
